Keymacro turns any Linux machine into a keyboard or mouse macro recorder, and provides a handy user-friendly interface. Its main goals are to record keyboard and mouse macros, edit them or copy them to the clipboard. Macro recording Macros can be recorded with an empty text file. Keymacro automatically creates a folder named macros in your home folder. You can also run a specific macro on a specific file or directory. Keymacro also allows the file to be executed with a key combination or with a mouse button. You can record multiple macros with a single key sequence. You can even combine them with other macros and key combinations. Macro editing Any key combination can be edited and all fields (name, description, shortcut, execution, and arguments) can be modified. You can even add, delete or modify event hooks. Macro can be executed manually, or when a new file is opened, or when a new file is selected. The latter case is useful for automatic renaming or removal. Macro execution You can also run a macro on files or directories. Keymacro uses an automatic system of priorities that allows you to run the macros in the right order. The order can be customized with a folder. Macro hotkeys Keymacro uses its own hotkeys for easy access. You can define hotkeys to run macros, edit macros, run macros or run macros with arguments. The hotkeys can be either fully customizable, or the free form method. Macro arguments Macros can have arguments. Keymacro allows you to use the arguments directly or define a shell. If you use a shell, the arguments will be passed directly to the shell. File selection Keymacro allows you to run a macro on a selected file. User interface Keymacro has a simple and easy to use interface. You can switch to a more detailed interface using Ctrl-E. It has a dual mode interface, one that allows you to edit macros, and a macro editor. Keymacro's auto command and auto command files are included with an installation. Logging Keymacro writes messages to the log file, which is automatically kept up to date when an action is being recorded. Source code and homepage Keymacro is distributed under GNU GPL, version 3. DOWNLOAD System requirements Keymacro is a console application. It requires a Linux kernel >= 2.6.18 and a GTK2 >= 2.
